I am neither east nor west yet both Eastern and Western. My art is reflective of my personal history of times and places, summarizing both of these cultural influences and experiences.

With the Asian cultural emphasis on nature as a source of inspiration, I follow the cycle of season and impart my response to its changing Flora and Fauna. The sparseness and open spaces reflects the inevitability and importance of the void, as taught in Taoism.

My choice of materials employs the traditional Four Treasures of the Scholar-the brush, rice paper, ink and stone. I love the way the brush dances through my touch, the way water and ink flows on to soft rice paper imparting life.

Nonetheless, the art still encompass representation and the vibrant use of colors found in western objectivity. Subtlety or nuance of background in European art suggesting depths is viewed alongside with treatment of space found in Chinese art.

I have a fervent need to reach and fulfill the highest aesthetic levels of my emotion, intellect and spirituality. It is often through my paintings that I find my way to completion of my karma.
